Round 3

Hi everyone....how was your week?  Mine was great!

Remember last week I told you that I would not allow myself to start round 3 of sock madness until I finished my fingerless mitts? Well, I finished the mitts.....

and started the socks (pattern Safe Harbor)!  Day One:

This week was monogamous knitting and while I have said in the past how it might be nice to be a monogamous knitter....it kinda makes for a boring blog entry.......sorry guys....all I got are socks!

Day Two:

Day Three:

Day Four:

Day Five:

Day Six:

As of this blog posting there are 6 total spots left in round 3 (across all teams...2 left in my team).  When I started this, I really never thought I would finish Round 1, so I am thrilled to make it to round 4....but I think this is really it for me (I know I said this on other rounds)...but my hands hurt and I have so many other things I need to knit on......Socks for family and Christmas knitting already (look at me planning ahead)!

Have a great week everyone!

Socks, Socks, Socks....Sock Madness?

Hi everyone....how has your week been?  Mine has been pretty good...except Paige had her purse stolen from her car Saturday night/Sunday morning.....I told her she was an idiot for leaving her purse in her car while out with friends....so hopefully lesson learned.

On to knitting......

I was able to finish my round 2 sock madness socks:

Then yesterday....the round 3 sock pattern was released.  It is called Safe Harbor (pattern here)

Here is a picture of them (copyright © Amy Rapp):

Now....I want to do them.....but....I have SOOOOOO many socks I WANT/NEED to do.  First there is the new yarn I just got....I want/need to make these:

Then there are the gryffindoor socks I need to make for Paige:

Then there is some new yarn I just got.....Darlene has a customer that sent her 2 skeins of Regia 4 ply self striping yarn and the colorway is of the German flag....when I mentioned this to my mom, she said "I may have to call Tante Mecki to get me some of that yarn so you can make me some of those."  My mother has never really 'asked' for me to make her anything and if she said she is gonna call her sister for yarn like this, then I know she will love these socks....so I told her no need to call Tante Mecki....I will make her socks with this yarn!  So again...another pair I need to make!

So yesterday I got yarn wound to start my Round 3 socks....I was thinking of using my Harry Potter Sirius's Gift colorway:

and then I busted out the Germany Flag yarn into two cakes to make matching socks and was gonna cast on......but.....some sort of wave of responsibility came over me.....and I told myself I need to finish my fingerless mitts before I allow myself to cast on more socks.  I tried to push Ms. Responsibility to the backburner, but she was not budging......so I worked on my mitts and have not cast on new socks (yet):

I told myself that as soon as I finish these mitts, I can cast on the round 3 socks and maybe my moms socks....then I thought of maybe doing the round 3 socks with the Germany yarn......but I need to look through some projects and see if anyone else is using self striping yarn.....

Now onto some Yarn Diet Breaking.....my friend, Rosanna, was working on the Augusta Shawl on the cruise with Wolltraum gradient yarn and I loved it.....so I got myself 2 skeins of this yarn...Cinnamon Girl and a custom color of "50 Shades of Grey"......

I am using the Cinnamon Girl for the Augusta shawl...and I am thinking of a large Jacket/vest for the grey.

Since I was working on the Augusta Shawl and it is crochet.....I thought that I should also catch up my temperature blanket....it is almost 20"  :)  I am caught up all the way to the 21st of April!

Well, that is really all I have......I got my flavor of the month tea from plum deluxe...Orange Black Tea

and I leave you with this morning's sunrise view from my work....Have a great week!

Happy Easter and Bon Voyage!

Hi everyone....I thought I would get in a quick post right before Easter and right before I leave.....so let me start with Happy Easter!

All week I only worked on one thing.....my socks for sock madness...and let me tell you, that there are tons of cuss words stitched into this duplicate stitching!

And I finished and got them submitted and I am officially on to round 2!

These are going to be a gift for a friend on the cruise....I hope she likes them!  I have given then a soak and they are blocking as I type.

I got my fingernails done.....

Darlene and I had our toes done together.....

Now I just need to GO PACK!!!!!

Well, that is it for me.....I will see you guys in a little over a week with picture overload I hope!!!

Bind Off Frustrations!

Hello everyone....how are you and how has your week been?  Mine has been great with the exception of some bind off frustrations that I will get into later.....but my cruise is in just 28 days....I am getting super excited!  Darlene and I have been making lists and getting things together....We are going to get our bags monogramed and I bought us some super cute hats....mine is black...Darlene's is Red:

We are super excited!

I have been working on my Portage....but ran into a huge snag, the bind off frustation....I was doing the tubular bind off and realized that somewhere along the way, I must have started doing the steps in the wrong order....it is hard to tell, but where the darning needle is shows where it starts to look different.....so I had to un-sew the tubular bind off on at least 10"...it was not easy and it was super frustrating....but it is now done.  After doing so much of this tubular bind off, I can see that it is just the Kitchener stitch if your work is a 1x1 ribbing and you have all your knits on the front needle and purls on the back needle.....I think it maybe have been easier to do it that way, but oh well, it is done!

Then I worked on the first sleeve....I am almost done with it, but not quite.

I also signed up for Sock Madness.....I know, I am crazy....Sock Madness is a sock knitting competition that is kind of like March Madness...the college basketball craze.....I am not planning on getting very far in the competition, right now I am just on the qualification round.  This is my first year of doing Sock Madness and there are so many wonderful knitters to chat with in the forums!

Heel Done!

Sock 1 done and Sock 2 started!  I never knit socks this way, so I hope I do not loose momentum!

I learned something else from Sock Madness......I learned about this little pastry/amazingness called Stroopwafels......and I am in love!  I should be loosing weight before the cruise, but I am pretty sure I am now gaining it with these amazing wafels!

Well, that is pretty much all I have......I did get a picture of a pretty cool looking full moon in my backyard, and Precious loves my new quilt....LOL!

Have a great week everyone!
