Happy Friday everyone!  Today is my last day of work this year!  I do not come back to work till January 2nd!  I am very excited.

I hope to go to the deer lease this weekend and be lazy and knit (yippee).

I do not have much to report on knitting.  I have been watching Anotnio most of this week, so knitting time has been scarce.  I am knitting on a pair of socks.  Here is the progress so far (I need to finish so I can get back to Bizzle's pink socks and get back to the lazy girl shawl!).

I got some beautiful Wollmeise in Herzbult from some stash on Ravelry.  I will make socks in April with this yarn for the Solid Socks group on Ravelry.  It is a really nice red!

My Christmas came early this week......Jaime (my boyfriend, pronounced Hi-Me) got me a "Pimp Chair".  I have no clue where I got that name for it, but a pimp chair is nothing more than just a big flufry/comfy chair to put your feet up in.....I LOVE IT and I see many hours of knititng in this chair....maybe he or she should have a name like Knitiot or KnitWit or SitNKnit.....I will have to think about that.  For now, it is just Pimp Chair!

I live in San Antonio, TX and one of the reasons I live here is that it does not get cold very often (I do not like too much cold....but amazingly, still want to go to Alaska as a dream trip).  However, for the first day of Winter, it got pretty cold.  Weather forecasters were saying hard freeze, but I think it just barley got to freezing at 32-34 degrees.  That is still cold for me!  So Jaime made his famous deer chili!  It was delicious!!!  He also made me a fire because I was so cold.....How sweet of him!

I hope to post more while on vacation, but I may just be lazy and Knit!

Happy Friday everyone!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!

Lots going on....as always.  I finished two more projects.  I have a had a cray few weeks.  Lots of Christmas shopping has been completed.....now the wrapping will begin this weekend!

Last post I mentioned that the Lazy Girl KAL was started.  I have been doing just fine with mine and trucking on along very slowly.

I had a sweet, sweet friend get me the cutest stitch markers....they say tink, tink, drink and have a little lady bug.....how sweet of her!  I love them!  Thank you Evelyn!!!

I also took a trip to Marble Falls this past Monday.  I had promised to make a lap robe for the veterans and this past Monday was the deadline (nothing like a little procrastination!).  I had a fantastic lunch with one of my knitting sisters from my online knitting group.  She is also a member of the HOT gals (Hooked on Threads) that started the drive for lap robes.  I asked the waiter to take a photo of us so I could share with all the LSSK gals....well, this waiter was quite the character, he even took a pic of himself.....little did he know, it would be on my blog for all to see!  Thank you Beverly!

My grandson had his first big fall.....it is the first of many bumps and bruises!

Yesterday I had to take my daughter to the Emergency Room.  Her jaw locked.  It has locked once before, but only for about 30 min.  So, when I woke up yesterday and I called her to wake her up before I left to work, she told me her jaw was locked.  I really do not know what to do, so I told her we would go to the ER.  She did not want to so she just asked me to warm up a bean bag thingy we have so she can apply heat to it.  I took it to her and left to work.  Then, about 30 min later I get a call from her that it will not close, and she wants to go tot ER.  I left work to take her to ER.  Apparently there is nothing you can do for a locked jaw except go to ER to have it popped back into place.  They knocked her out and replaced the jaw and she is much better now.  She is home resting and has a lot of soreness and pain, but she will be fine.  She sees a specialist next Tuesday.

Remember that luscious Pearl Yarn I won from Ravellenics?  Well, do you also remember when I said I pre-paid for the second edition of this yarn during yarn crawl?  Well, it came in!

Last but not least, I leave you with pics of my latest two FO's and a WIP.  A dishcloth for my secret santa recipient and November's socks.

Now I am working on December's socks!

Happy Friday Everyone!!!

Friday, November 30, 2012

OK, I have had lots going on.  How was everyone's Thanksgiving?  Mine was great!  I wore my new socks to my aunt's house and everyone loved them.  Then, my daughter put my grandson (Antonio) into his new Fire Truck Sweater for Thanksgiving and everyone got to see it.

The day before thanksgiving I got a terrible virus on my work computer.....it was a big pop up that said it was from the FBI and that your computer is locked till you pay $300.00 with a moneypak (I guess that is like Western Union).  Anyway, my security guys said it was a pretty bad virus and the eventually did a system restore, but it took almost all day....so, if you see that kind of pop up....do not pay the money, do a system restore.

After Thanksgiving, I went to the lease with Jaime and the boys.  I finished Jaime's Fornicating Deer Hat.....He really likes it and so did his friends that were out there.

He said he would wear it into town at the deer lease and if anyone asked him where he got it he would say "I had it custom made, and if you give me the measurements of your head, I can have one custom made for you too for $80.00."  HA!  I thought that was funny!

Oh.....remember that Orange sweater I finished a long time ago?  Well, I finally wore it for the first time.  It was my first ever made for myself swear and my first ever time wearing it.....lots of Firsts!  I am very proud of this sweater!

And what have I been waiting for almost all month?  Yup......the Lazy Girl KAL!!  Well, Evelyn, Darlene and I started today at lunch.  It was lots of fun.  Darlene was so excited to get started, and was so busy knitting, she would not even look up for the picture.  I am planning on working on this and finishing my November socks this weekend.

Happy Friday everyone!!  Have a great weekend!

It has been far too long since I posted.....I am not even sure if I know what has happened since.  I do know I got sick voting day, and it seems like it has taken me forever to recoup!  (GROSS ALERT) I also had an ingrown toenail that I had to go get cut out.  It is healing nicely and I kind of wish I had done it a lot sooner.  I thought it would be really painful (because I am a baby that way) but it was not bad at all.

KNITTING....I have been knitting a little here and there on just about everything.  But the big news is that I finally finished my Clown Fish Socks!  Yippee!!!

My granddaughter will turn 4 on Thanksgiving day.  We got her a Hello Kitty Bike and she loves it!  I will be able to have her again on her Birthday, but did not know that till this weekend, so we already gave her the bike.  I know these are a bit blurry, but they are action shots from a camera phone (sorry)!

My great knitting friend, Darlene, is also a Quilter.  Since I have no clue how to sew, I asked her if she could try to make some project bags....well, she tried and succeeded....she made 10 bags in one day!  WOW!

Well, that is all I have for now.  I will try to get back to posting a couple of times a week....the holidays are among us, so it is busy time!

Happy Tuesday Everyone!  And Happy Thanksgiving to each and every one of you!

Did you go vote today?  Do you have early voting and did you at least vote early?  I hope you did!

OK, so I finally finished one pair of socks that I started almost 2 years ago....but, that is one project off the needles, so it counts!

I was working on my October socks, and turned the heel on one of them and then tried it on.  It was too small.  I am sooooooo bummed....had to go back to cast on edge and cast on an additional 12 stitches.  Here is how it looked....

You could see the tiny holes where the bobbles were stretched too tight.

I frogged the one sock that has not yet turned the heel because I want to get this one to the heel before I frog the other one (I do not knwo why, I just think it will make me feel a little better...ha, ha).

And now here it is past the heel flap, but just starting to shape the instep:

Now, I still have to frog back to the cast on edge for one more sock.....wish me luck!

I do really like how these are turning out.

Happy Tuesday, and Happy Election Day!

Lots has been going on, I wish I could say I have had lots of knitting time, but I have not (boo hoo).  I joined a group on Ravelry that is doing the Knit Swirl KAL.  I started my Knit Swirl sweater in October of last year, so I joined this group to give me motivation to keep working on it and finish it.  I am going to the deer lease tonight and tomorrow, so I hope to get a welt or two done

Here is what it looks like now:

Last weekend was opening deer season for youth and Arran shot me a nice big buck....warning, if you are squimish, do not look at pick:

I have been working on my October socks (I really love the way the color is being manipulated with this pattern):

I cast on for my November socks yesterday:

Lastly, I leave you with the cutest Elmo ever.....Antonio went trick or treating for Halloween and he was so cute!  He fell asleep after just a few houses, and his favorite thing he got was fruit snacks!

Happy Friday everyone!

Thursday, October 25, 2012

Well, it has been almost 2 weeks since I posted.  Life has been busy, and I also noticed that nobody really reads my blog, so it is kind of hard to stay motivated....I hope one day, I have lots of readers....until then, I will keep posting.

So, I went to NY for a training class, and while I know that would have been a perfect time to veture out and see new things, I went to the conference during the day and to my hotel room at night to knit (and order room service).  I did see the Good Morning America show going on down in time square from my hotel room, that was pretty cool.  Here is a picture:

Then, guess who had a birthday?  Yup.....my grandson Antonio!  Paige wanted to make a homemade cake every year (from scratch), so she did a practice cake, and then another cake for her party.  Tonight, we are going to my parent's house for Anotnio's birthday dinner!

On the knitting side of things.....I had a friend that wanted to make a thick and bulky cabled blanket, so I wanted to surprise her with one....so I knit this up in 4 days.....I love it.  I think I will be making quite a few more.  This one is on size 19 needles, and my next one will be on size 50 needles.  This one is only 4 skeins, so I need to find more of this yarn and make this one longer.

This was a really quick knit, and I love the way it turned out.

Happy Thursday everyone!!!!

Happy I Love Yarn Day to everyone!!!

I wanted to say Happy I Love Yarn Day to everyone....  I also wanted to show you the finished Saroyan that I finished on Wednesday.  I started this the Saturday evening of the Yarn Crawl.  I really love the colors.  I have not blocked it yet.  I am going on a business trip to NY this Sunday and I think I will wear it to the big apple!  I just need to block it first.

Happy Friday everyone!!!!

Are you ready to hear about Yarn Crawl Fun?  I went with my crazy knitting friend Darlene.  Darlene and I knit almost every day at lunch....we always have so much fun together!!!

We left work a touch early on Friday and went to Yarnivore....this is where I bought a wonderful skein of Madeline Tosh sock in a BRIGHT PINK....no worries, this is not for me....it is for Paige's best friend (her name is Bizzle and she is the greatest best friend to my daughter ever!).  So, when you see pics of my haul, you will see the pink and I know it is completely out of character for me...that is why.  Here, Tammy gave us a tape measure and snips as our gift.
Saturday I was at Darlene's house to get her at 7:30 am.....off to the Lucky Ewe....there I got two skeins of the Rozetti ruffle yarn in gorgeous autumn colors and it was called Caravan (this yarn was later the gift at Nan's Needleworks).  There are dark burnt orange...pretty much brown with black and deep burgundy....these are gorgeous together!  Lucky Ewe had an abacus (sp?) for a gift....then off to The Knitting Nest...here is where Darlene spotted the Saroyan pattern all knitted up.  So what did we do?  we bought yarn for it and ended up casting on that evening for it.  My yarn is Malabrigo in Loro Barranquero...which is again a brown, burgundy, yellowish, rustish color combination...it is in the bottom right corner of the picture.....just gorgeous.  I also got a couple of cable needles, and saftey pins and stitch holders here.  Knitting Nest had a skein of yarn with a pattern to a jar cover as the gift.....I got dark green.  Now to HCW, where Darlene was pretty overwhelmed.  We spent over our budget from just the sock section.  I got two skeins of Dream in Color Smooshy in "Gold Experience"...it has a tint of a burnt orange in it...but more goldy brown (still in my color array).  Along with one skein of Jitterbug (Darlene's almost new favorite yarn) in "Pharaoh"...this is blues with greens with golds and reds and browns....but with the gold main color yarn and the pharaoh as the contrast, I am going to make the Lazy Girl shawl that a friend of mine made a while back and Darlene and I fell in love with....I cannot wait to make this.  HCW had a full skein of CoBaSi (by haiko) as their gift....Darlene and I got lime green, and I gave my skein to Darlene....later she gave me her skein of black yarn from Tinsmith's Wife).  Oh, I also got a cute orange polka dotted project bag here by Della Q that was calling my name.

Then it was off to Gauge....Here we did not buy anything, but I think it was because we really over did it at HCW...Gauge had stitch markers as a gift.  Now to Happy Ewe.  I had not been to this store before but a friend of mine has told me how wonderful it is....and she was not kidding!  Misty is the owner and just as nice as can be.  Here I prepaid for two skeins of pearl yarn....yes, you heard me right.  I heard that the pearl yarn I won a few months ago would have a second edition and Misty would be carrying it in her store (eta end of October).  It will be pearl on white (instead of all white like mine) and I pre-ordered two skeins to make a wedding shawl....no, nobody is getting married, but I want to get a head start ;).  Misty had a kit to make the cutest 'ewe' in white, brown or pink as the gift.....Darlene and I each picked pink....Misty had a bunch of these 'ewe's' all knitted up and around her store....they are very cute.
Now to Yarnorama.....Again, Darlene and I did not make any purchases, but we were winding down and getting tired.....Susan had a needle felting starter kit as the gift and there was a lady there giving demonstrations. While there I did see two skeins of jitterbug sock yarn in the most gorgeous 'Ginger Cinnabar' color that almost jumped in my bag, but I still had 3 stores to go to on Sunday and did not want to completely blow my budget.
Then it was off to our hotel room to knit for the night.  We hand wound our balls of malabrigo and started our Saroyan's (while I watched the longhorns loose....sniff, sniff).  Neither I nor Darlene slept very well, so we were up and out of the hotel around 7:00 am.  We went to Nan's Needleworks and got there about 15-20 before it opened, but thankfully, there were people there.  Darlene and I did not buy anything, but we really enjoyed the place....and as stated earlier....she had the skein of Rozetti Marina Mulit as a prize....Darlene and I picked black, white and silver colors.
Next we were off to Wimberly to Old Oaks Ranch (somehow we were always getting to a store when a bus was there, and this was no exception....we saw the bus at Happy Ewe, Yarnorama, and now Old Oaks Ranch).  This store has really changed since the last time I was there and she had lots more yarn than she normally does....it was great to see the increase in inventory.  Here the gift was a ziplock with a kit to make a Fiber Arts Necklace.....with wire and some fun furish type of yarn.
Next we went to the Leaning Pear (restaurant) to meet with some knitting sistah's!  This place was awesome!  I had a BBLT...that is a BLT on sourdough bread and the extra B is for Brie.....it was awesome!  Here is a pic of all of us (I am farthest left, and Darlene right next to me, then Caroline, Sue, and Judy).

Our last stop....The Tin Smith's wife.  Here I bought a skein of "Pumkin Apocolypse" yarn.  It is black and orange...it is so awesome.  I think Wendy (the owner) was trying to hide it so nobody would buy it.  It was sitting all alone and when I went to check out she was bummed that I was buying it....she teased that she wanted to keep it but her mother made her put it out and said "nobody will buy it"...but she was wrong....I know Wendy wishes I did not buy it, but I am so happy I did.  It is sock yarn and I cannot wait to make socks with it!  Here the gift was a skein of Debbie Bliss yarn and there is a pattern for it in the passport or on her blog.  Here is where Darlene and I both got Black and Darlene gave me her black.
Then I took Darlene home and I went to my mom's to help her watch Antonio until Paige got home.....I have so much more to say, and stories to tell, but this post is getting way too long.
Here are pics.  One pic of purchases, one pic of gifts.

Happy Wednesday everyone!
