Another FO?

Look.....Can it be true?  I have another FO!!  LOL!

It is just my socks for Lupe that were super close to being done.....

I got some yarn.....I got the monthly yarn from Jimmy Beans Wool

And I ordered some Halloween color yarn.  It is from Joanns.  It is Big Twist in the colorway Jack O Lantern.

I want to make a Granny Square blanket and could not figure out which Granny Square I liked best......so I asked Lupe and Darlene and they both like the one on the right.   I only got 6 skeins of this yarn so I am hoping that will be enough for a blanket.  My first skein got me almost 9 squares (I had to use a little of second skein to finish).

That is all I have.....Have a great week!!

Top Down Rolled Hem Heel Flap Socks

Hi everyone.....If you follow my blog, you know I recently knit a very long pair of socks as to use as much of the amazing yarn as possible.  The way the yarn was dyed, I wanted to use all the colors in a pair of socks and not split it into two pairs.

I call these, Top Down Rolled Hem Heel Flap socks

This is NOT a pattern.  This is a recipe as to how to do this....you need to already know how to knit socks to do this pair.

Here is the yarn....it is called Shirley Brian Yarns Deconstructed Fade Sock Yarn and my daughter bought it from Birdie Parker (Link Here).  I also got some earrings from my son

Now.....Here is the "recipe":

I cast on 64 stitches.  This is my usual size when making socks.  After the cast on, I just started knitting in the round for a very long time.  I did not do any ribbing and the cuff just rolls naturally.

Now, I am not a monogamous knitting, so at any given time, I have dozens of projects on the needles....and I happened to have another pair of socks (being knit from top down) on the needles.  So, I took those socks and as I was about to start the heel flap, I weighted the yarn.  Then on this "other" pair of socks, I proceeded to knit the heel flap, heel turn, gusset and toe and closed up the first sock....then I weighted the yarn again.  The difference was 20 grams.  So I knew that to knit a regular pair of cuff down socks for me from the heel flap to toe, takes 20 grams.

So, now back to my Top Town Rolled Hem Heel Flap socks.....I kept knitting in the round till I had 24 grams per skein left (I added a 4 gram buffer just in case).  Once I had 24 grams left, I started my regular heel flap, heel turn, gusset, foot and toe and viola!  My socks were done (I have approx 3 grams of each skein left).  I am tickled with the results

That is it.....I hope you have fun with this recipe and please reach out if you try it...I would love to see your socks.

It's Almost August!

Hey everyone....can you believe tomorrow is the first day of August?  I can't.

I know I just blogged a post with a billion pics this past Wednesday, but I wanted to try to get back to my every Monday (or Tuesday) post....so I won't have a ton, but I do have some stuff.

First....Toni Lipsy (the queen of crochet in my eye) did a yarn review recently (she does tons of these) and gave a yarn a 10 out of 10 hooks....I am not sure she has every done that!  So what did I do?  I bought some....the only downside of this yarn (in my opinion) is it does not come in a billion colors.

Here is what I got:

I also have another family member that is going to have a baby....so I already started a new baby blanket with this blue variegated yarn and I am loving it so far.

I finished my super long socks with the yarn I got from Paige for Christmas.  These socks take almost the entire 50 gram skein each because I wanted to use ALL the yarn and get all the colors in.

I also finished my first pair of cranked socks (I finished in April but needed to kitchner 2nd sock).  They have 2 different tensions and are 2 different sizes...but they are done.

Look at the cutest bag my friend, Elizabeth made....I am currently begging her to make one with Flower....she will have these available soon on Etsy, Cozy Sky Co

Paige is in Vegas....she took Kody for a surprise bday present.....I love these two!

Can you believe it has been 14 years since I started SNB on meetup.com?  The group is now on FB, but wow.....14 years.

I started a Mae for Syla....Darlene gave me this yarn over 2 years ago and I finally started the sweater

I started a sunshine coast for myself......there are lots of M1L and M1R and SSK with K2TOG.....I was getting confused so I bought these cute stitch markers (with lobster claw) to help me.

Well, that is all I have.....I hope yall have a fabulous week!

Happy Tuesday!!

Hey everyone.....I hope you had a fabulous Memorial Day!

Last week Paige and I got to hit the gym together, which we have not done in a long time.

I got some new DK yarn that has Nylon in it...it is called West 7th Wool Merino DK

I finished my slipping sideways socks

I finished the March pieces for the Monthly Quilty Blanket and started a couple of the April pieces.

I got yarn for my Monthly shawl kit....this is the May color called Vintage...I really need to get crocheting on that shawl.

I got some new Vitamins....and while I will not buy again, I love this message from Winnie the Pooh.

Here is a picture of my foster, Flower, wanting some attention while I was knitting or crocheting

I've also been TRYING to eat better....and this is currently my favorite salad.  I love it with nuts added, but I ran out.

That is all I have......Have a great week everyone.
