Tour de Sock and Camp Loopy

Hey everybody!  How has everyone been?  This was a pretty busy weekend that just passed....it was June 1st yesterday and they means it was the start of Camp Loopy and the start of Tour De Sock.  I was crazy knitting yesterday.  Let me start with what I have been doing before yesterday's big day.......

I finished my Tour De Sock socks from last year.....Yeah!  I gave these to Darlene...she does so much for me with all her sewing and her Awesome Bags that these will in no way make up for all she does for me...but they are a small start (PS...she loves them)!

I also started a new pair of socks....and it is all Darlene's fault.  Darlene wanted to do a Stitch Surfer sock with the MustStash Podcast (they were doing a KAL) and I had told her I would pass....till she showed me some yarn....see, she ordered some yarn to make Stitch Surfer and then also got some yarn from Stacie of the MustStash Podcast....so Darlene says to me, "If you want to do this sock, I will split my yarn with you.....".  Well, would you just look at this yarn:

How can anyone pass up that orange awesomeness?  So yes, I cast on a Stitch Surfer sock...I am not planning on finishing by the KAL deadline (June 30th) but we will see....Tour De Sock and Camp Loopy have priority right now.

I worked just a little on the Dr Who scarf for my friend...waiting for Sunday to get here....

My aunt was married on Saturday....and it was a perfect Ceremony...so Congrats to Aunt Chris and Uncle Don!

After the wedding, Jaime and I went home and watched the Spurs Game....It was a nail biting great kind of game....and we did it...The San Antonio Spurs are the Western Conference Champs!  Now we advance to The Finals!

Then came "The Big Day"!  I got up early....really early and started on my Camp Loopy hat first.....then when about 8:30ish came, I printed out the Tour De Sock Pattern....and I got to work on those....I took lots of pics as my progress went along, but some of the lighting is really bad as I did not want to wake up Jaime really early........

I started using one of my camp sock sacks for my Tour de Sock socks...my TDS team name is Team Roasted because we all love coffee.....well Darlene is so Awesome, that she made me coffee bags for my projects...and a coffee sock sack just for my TDS socks!  Thank you Darlene!  You are awesome!

I also love how my Camp Loopy Bags match my Camp Loopy Project number 1!

I should also mention how awesome Jaime was on Sunday...he knew I had a day of knitting and he made me one of my favorite meals...his BBQ Chicken....this is the best you guys:

Oh.....I almost forgot the best news of the whole week....late in the week, I got a text from a friend from SNB...she said that Stephen West was going to be in Austin in early July for a class and a few of the gals from SNB are going and do I want to go?  Well of course I do, but with the big house still not selling, I told her I better pass and maybe next time.....well what do you know...she texted me a few min later and said it was her treat...she said she wanted to buy it for me because "My treat.  I want you there cuz u started this whole group that has given me so much joy." and told me to one day pay it forward....well I was just so excited...I have a lot of great wonderful friends who do a lot for me (and I like to think I help where I can), but this is probably one of the nicest things someone has done for me....Thank you Elizabeth!

Now that I am signed up for this class....I was looking at Stephen West's patterns and he has a KAL going on right now for his Smooth Move pattern....I am 'thinking' about doing it...I know I am nuts...I have way too much going on right now, but if I can make a serious dent in my Camp Loopy and Tour de sock projects...I may allow myself to cast on for Smooth Move.....Here are the colors I picked (and Stephen West said they look great)!

I have two stash enhancements (besides my awesome coffee bags from Awesome Grannie) and I got these skeins of yarn for tour de sock...they are sponsor yarn from Blue Moon Fiber Arts....Socks That Rock.  I got the KISS colorway and Green Apple colorway

Okay...I think I have rambled on enough today.....please do not forget about the giveaway I have going on right now...I hope you left a comment for me to win....the winner will be announced some time on Thursday of this week...On Friday, I am heading off to knit at my sister's lakehouse this week....so I hope to get lots on knitting time in!

I leave you with some really cute pictures of Antonio riding "my horsy".  Jaime's mom and sister got him this horse last Christmas and he loves it.

Happy Happy Knitting everyone!

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday!  How has everyone's week been?  Mine has been grand!  Last week I told you that I finished the Waves Scarf...well, I got it blocked too....I love the stitch definition!  The second picture best captures the color of the scarf/yarn.

It appears I finished it just in time too.....guess what I got in the mail?  The Strickmich!Club package number 2.....it is delightful!

The Welthase yarn is delightful to knit with...it is soooooo soft and squishy!  I took the skeins home to wind them (mine and Darlene's...remember, she is a member of the club too) and she went home and sewed us custom bags just for this project.....remember, I am Darlene's sewing guinea pig so if you ever see something wrong on a sewn bag she made for me....no worries....I love them any way she sews them for me....Here is the yarn and the bags (the small bag has some upside down material)......

Let me tell you how awesome these bags are....I posted them on the Strickmich!Club forum and a lady that is also a member of the group loved then so much, she ordered some from Darlene.....this might have a little bit to do with the soon to come announcement about Darlene...but my lips are still semi-sealed......

I actually want to give a HUGE shout out to Paula Henderson in Tyler Texas......I found out that she reads my blog (we first got to know each other through the first shipment of this club).  In fact, she knew about this blog where Darlene made me the Eiffel Tower Pink Sock Sack!  She placed an order with Darlene for 3 bags.....the bags above (large and small matching) and a sock sack.  Thank you Paula for reading my blog and the awesome order of bags from Darlene!!!!

The last comment on the Strichmich!Club is my current progress on the latest project....

This past Saturday evening, Jaime and I went to a Hot Rod Car Show.....Back in October of last year, Jaime bought a 1972 Chrysler Scamp.....it is the perfect orange color!  Well, we took the scamp to hot rod night at Soda Pops in Boerne.....it was awesome because Jaime brought me a folding table and chair....I sat in the corner and knitted on my socks (that match the car) and gabbed with the girls while the guys did car talk.....

One of the guys could not believe I was just sitting there knitting....he said "Really?" and I said "Really!"  A good friend of mine, Julie, came out too....I was able to give her the beautiful baby blanket for her grand daughter and she made me this awesome cup....I love it!  It is perfect burnt orange color....Thank you Julie!!!!!

I also got quite a bit of knitting done on the Miss Bab's knitting tour project number 1.....Silver fern.  I have the 1st 1/2 done and have cast on from the other end and am on the second color from that at....I am loving the way this is turning out.

I also got the yarn to start my friend's son's Dr Who Scarf.....I am using this pattern, for the Season 12 scarf....but I cast on 56 stitches instead of 66...it is 10 inches wide and I am sure it will block wider.....so far I only have 8 rows done...but hey, it is started!  I will probably need more yarn later, but this is a great start!

Lastly, I have a little bit of braggin' to do on Jaime....I got to do NOTHING but KNIT on Sunday and I loved every bit of it....he BBQ'd some awesome ribs....I brought some for lunch and I had 3 or 4 ppl stop by my desk to drool at them.....I know they do not look all that appetizing in the bag...but trust me....they were delish!  Thank you Jaime!  :)

Well, that is really all I have for this week......as always, have a great week and Happy Happy Happy Knitting!

I must be slacking again......

Look at me slacking again.....it has been over a week since I posted and I really want to try to stay on a weekly (if not more often) schedule.

Remember the Strickmich! Yarn club I joined?  Well, my package came it.....Yahoo!!!!!  I absolutely love it and I am casting on tomorrow for the shawl for the Ravellenics...it is one of two projects I am doing for the ravellenics.

And, my Suzi shawl is ALMOST DONE....I started the bind off, but want to finish binding off tomorrow since this will be a WIPs for the ravellenics.....maybe a bit sad that I am waiting to bind off, but I wanted at least one WIPS project in there.....ha, ha!

So, have any of you heard of Darn Pretty Needles?  There is like a 9 month to 1 year waiting list for them..... I ordered 2 sets almost a year ago....then, I was able to find a pair on a 'For Sale or Trade' thread.  I tried them and was not all the hip on the wood (I think I have mentioned several times that I love metal needles).  Well, my first set that I ordered was finally mailed and delivered, and it was just in the midst of my hypercrazy madness.....there are SEVERAL double yo's in the hypercrazy pattern and I thought if I try my wood needles, it might help....well, I could not have been more right.....I am really digging these needles....the join is HEAVEN!  never a snag....I do tend to unscrew them a bit as I knit and if a stitch gets stuck in that, I have to get it out, but other than that....these will be my new go to needles for lace patterns....I ordered some extra long cords for hypercrazy and I think I will also put my log shawl on these needles.

This was the set I snagged on the trade thread that was quickly snagged by a friend of mine once I got my hazelnut color in (she really loves the Vermont Apple).....this set is Vermont apple and Tortoise....my last set on order is chestnut with a lace tip that I probably do not need anymore, but I ordered them a long time ago.

I am actually surprised at how much I am enjoying these wood needles....here is my Perfectly Wreckless HyperCrazy on these needles:

So......I am sure that many knitters are not die hard football fans, but I am....I love my longhorns!  I also love the Denver Broncos....one of my best friends, Ailene, married a man from Denver and he is probably the biggest Bronco fan you will ever meet....she had pictures on her facebook of her whole family in orange and blue face paint and the dogs were wearing orange and blue bandanas.....it was a seriously sad loss!!  I am not sure if the team that played in the blue and orange uniforms were the real broncos.....they certainly were not the team I watched play all year......I was really looking forward to the game and Jaime invited the bromance Alex and his wife Marie over.....Marie enjoyed watching me knit on my suzi shawl and said she loves her wrap that I made her (I think I mentioned it a couple of posts ago).....Jaime BBQ'd some wild hog all day on his big BBQ pit and it was like melt in your mouth awesomeness......this (and the knitting) was the best part of Super Bowl Sunday!!!!

It was another cold one here in SA.....there was white stuff on my car and in my yard.....it is called grapple, this is actually a new word I learned on the news today....it is apparently snow that has ice all around it and looks like little balls.....kind of that like ice cream you can get now that is all little balls.....it was pretty neat!

I leave you with a couple of great pictures.....one is a picture of my daughter (Paige), granddaughter (Celeste) and grandson (Antonio)....the second is a great saying about knitting....I had a friend contact me with some cute knitting sayings....so I will share a few over the new few posts....this one I especially love because I have become quite a selfish knitting and do not want to for anyone but me (how sad is that?)!!!

Have a great week/weekend!  Happy Happy Knitting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
