Is My New System Working?

Hey Everyone....How are you?  I am well!  I am not sure if y'all remember in early June (June 3rd) I mentioned I was going to try a new system.  I did some frogging, I did some casting on, and I did some pulling out of old things.  How is it going?  Well, let's see.

I said I was going to work on an old blanket, a new cardigan for my sister and an old shawl from 2023.

Well, I finished the old blanket....the glamping blanket

I did about 15-17 rows on my sister's cardigan (It does not look much bigger, but the cables have been started.

and I did work on the shawl the first week, but not last week....so no change there.  I also started 2 new hats (not part of the new 'system')...but I did finish the two non authorized cast ons....LOL!

So.....is it working?  I think maybe 50/50...LOL!  I will continue to do my best.

I got a pic from my friend, Star, of her grandson using one of the blankets I recently made them.

Now, speaking of non authorized cast ons.....how about non authorized crochet projects (which are not really cast ons...but chain ons??).  I got a message from Antonio with these two pics attached asking if I could make this.

I told him yes of course, but my squares woukd be smaller (if he only wanted the 3 center colors and then black outline), and I had 16 colors....and were there any he wanted me to leave out.

I also told him I was going to randomly select the colors (no matching, no thinking).  He was like, Okay.  So, I set up all my yarns with this wood board and numbered them 1-16.  The first 2 or so squares I just pulled colors...then I asked Lupe to pick 3 numbers between 1 and 16, then the same of Alexa....then I had the bright idea to have ChatGPT give me 200 sets of 3 random numbers between 1 and 16....so it did.  I have printed out the file it provided (I have to be organized in my randomness....LOL!!!)  and am on my 4th square from the list, but I had about 6 square already...so my 4th square from the list is my 10th square...let's see how it goes.  This is Antonio's Random AI Generated Granny Square Blanket.

Lupe spoiled me with more flowers....I love them!!!

and Paige is at the lakehouse, so I am baby sitting my grand dogs.  For any of you that remember from past years....Jackson does not like Texas (the bit Great Dane)...so Paige takes Jackson to lakehouse (he is way easier than taking Jaz and Texas) and I have Jaz and Texas....Lupe cannot believe how big Texas is....and Texas sure is getting attached to Grandpa Lupe

But do not worry.....Lupe is still spoiling Flower and Purl (I did not get pic of Purl)

and Amira is enjoying laid back Jackson

Well, that is all I have.  I hope y'all have a fabulous week!!

It's already June?

Hey everyone.....how can it already be June?  I am not sure either.

I am going to start this post with another boquet of gorgeous flowers Lupe got me....he really does spoil me!  There were taken on different days so you can see ow much they opened up.

Paige and Kody must have had plans this past Saturday night because Bizz posted this adorable picture

I commented on it and she sent me the aftermath

This girl is going to be independent!

Okay, now for knitting.  I purchased the new knit nation magazine to see if I would like it.  I have to give lots of credit to the creator and editors and all imvloved in this magazine.  It is a great concept and for 24 pages, it is packed with lots of fun, information and even  patterns.  However, I forgot how bulky a newspaper can be, and even if I did fall in love with one of the patterns, I do not see me knitting from this large newspaper.  I would probably take pics and then print them to make them more managable.  This is probably not what this company had in minde when creating this newspaper.  All in all, it is pretty much just not for me.  The shipping also takes forever and I fear I am additcted to Amazon's "We will have it there between 5 and 10 pm tonight" services.....LOL!

As far as actual knitting.....I finised the teement shawl.  I finished in one month, but needed an extra day for blocking!

I also finished the 2nd blanket for my friend, Star's son, Thomas.

These two will go in the mail today!

I also decided I need to clean out some wips.....yup, I know I say this all the time.  I am hoping this year is my year.....LOL!

I frogged 2 items, and counted my wips.  One just needs to be blocked, so going in water today.  I have 21 wips (hey, that is prett good considering I think I had 40 at one time).  12 of those are blankets.....clearly, I love blankets but they take me FOREVER to finish.  So, I am pulling out one blanket wip, one shawl wip, and starting a new cast on for my sister.  We will be going to lakehouse for retreat the weekend before her 55th birthday, so I want to make her the Ledburg cardigan.  I made myself one in 2021.

So.....here is to hoping my new system is going to work....LOL!

Lastly, a picture of my baby girl...I love when she smiles while she sleeps!

Have a great week everyone.

What a week.......

Well, I have had a bit of a crazy week....and this will be a long post.....

My mom and Dad went to Houston for my mom's treatment, they forgot a bag and I had to get it and meet them with it, they also need their lawn mowed but the &#%)#^%#)$ RAIN WILL NOT STOP long enough for me to mow it.....GRR!  Thankfully their neighbor was able to mow it Wednesday evening.....My mom is doing so much better.  My dad almost passed out and had super high blood pressure, but thankfully they were at the dr office, so they could give him water and monitor him....she was very nauseous and did vomit once, but she is doing much better (Praise God!)!  They are now home!!  Thank you for all the prayers!

I did meet a friend for dinner on Tuesday, Star (Nick's Girlfriend that we went to the lakehouse with a while back)....We went to the Yard House (I guess it is known for it's beer) and she got a BIG beer, I got wine and we both got the Ahi Poke....it was delicious!

My sister's boat house and dock at the lake did flood, but thankfully the house did not.  Out of all their friends with houses on the lake, they were the only ones that did not have water in the house (my sister's house sits a little higher than most) so she had 5 families all staying at her lake house this past weekend and she fed them all since she had the only working appliances.....they all went as a group to each other's homes to help them clean up the mud and sludge....they know it could have been so much worse so they were very lucky and are very blessed!!

As for knitting, I only worked on one thing.....being a monogamous knitter sure makes for a lot of work getting done on the one item, but it also makes for a fairly boring blog....at least I have had a ton of other things going on to where this is a pretty long blog post.

I worked on my test knit for the Vortex Cardigan and I am really loving it!  This Biscotte Yarns Pure DK is heavenly to work with!

You can kinda see how it is shaping out....this is the most unique construction....now my cord is a 32" so it does not lay out all the way:

I also worked on Darlene's blanket, I am on stripe 12....just 4 more stripes after this one!  Oh, and Max really love the blanket as you can see!

Oh and I signed up for another test knit....a cardigan, but I barely have any done:

That is it for the crafting......

There was a beautiful sunrise on Sunday...it was hard to capture, the colors were more red, but I still took a picture.

Little Mario's children were dedicated at their church service...I love these kiddos (Alexxis and Baby Mario):

And Antonio is ready for fall.....he is such a goofball, but I love him so much!  His birthday is tomorrow!!  His party is Sunday, so get ready for picture overload next weekend.

I found out that Celeste's mom is expecting!  She is having a boy....due around February of next year....I need to make a baby blanket for him!!!  This will be grandchild number 6....no, not a biological one, but mine just the same!  They had their gender reveal party this past Saturday.

I also need to make baby blankets for Jaime's Niece and Nephew....they are each expecting a new one in their home early next year!  That is 3 baby blankets.... I better get a move on!

Lastly, I want to share some photos my mom and dad took at the Albuquerque Balloon Festival a couple of weeks ago....they had a great time!

Have a great week!
